GOOD TO KNOW

You don’t drive?
No. I don’t drive a car I walk everywhere or use public transport. The only drawback is that I do not dispose of garden waste but I am a huge advocate of composting.  Using client’s long tools is preferable but I always bring my own small tools and can restore, clean and sharpen tools for you.

How does your Autism affect your work?
Often my main challenges are sensory: sometimes I’ll work wearing earplugs if I feel like I might have a lower capacity for input. I turn down jobs too close to busy roads or school playgrounds. Usually I bring a choice of clothing and hats since feeling comfortable in my own skin can be tricky. On windy or low-capacity days I may be less able “mask” and may be a little subdued or non-verbal.

Do you like dogs?
I love cats and dogs and always encourage any family pet to join my “apprenticeship programme”.

Tea?
The answer is usually yes please: milk and no sugar and rarely (here meaning “never”) would I turn down food.
